MAXILLOFACIAL PHYSIOTHERAPY
Maxillofacial Physiotherapy (TMJ)
The temporomandibular joint (TMJ) connects the lower jaw to the skull and plays a role in essential functions such as chewing, speaking, and swallowing. When it malfunctions, various symptoms can appear: jaw pain, clicking or popping sounds, limited mouth opening, facial muscle tension, headaches, or neck pain.
Maxillofacial physiotherapy is aimed at people suffering from TMJ disorders such as arthralgia, disc displacements, myalgia of the masticatory muscles, osteoarthritis of the joint, bruxism, tension headaches or associated cervicalgia.
Following a thorough assessment, a personalized treatment plan is developed. This may include manual techniques, specific exercises, posture work, and advice tailored to your daily life.
